What level of fitness is required to start?
All fitness levels are welcome. We encourage new members to take advantage of our free individual assessment to identify the safest and most effective exercise options before getting started. This is especially valuable if you have recently completed physical therapy and are looking to transition safely to a long-term exercise program. Our Exercise Specialists match every BFA workout to your current fitness level and your personal goals, so you can start where you are and progress with confidence.
Can children join?
Membership is limited to adults 18 and older. While BFA Fitness Club is especially welcoming to individuals who are new to strength training or in their 40s or up, adults of all ages and experience levels are encouraged to join. Kids cannot use the equipment, but can observe from our seating areas if you ever need to bring them so you don't miss a workout. We believe it's never too early for children to see their parents making health and fitness a priority and serving as positive role models.
Can workouts be customized to my goals?
Absolutely! Every BFA workout is matched to your personal goals, whether you're looking for functional fitness, athletic performance, or simply to improve everyday function. Your individual assessment, included with Club membership, establishes your baseline, identifies any movement limitations or safety considerations, and helps our Exercise Specialists develop the best approach for you. As your fitness improves and your goals change, your workouts evolve with you.

What features and amenities can I enjoy as a BFA Fitness Club member?
An air-conditioned workout environment keeps our Club members comfortable year-round, and on nice days, we love opening the garage doors to take advantage of our scenic river rail trail location. For those exercising before work or other activities, we provide clean shower facilities stocked with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and fresh towels. We also have a filtered water filling station. Every detail is designed to make your workout experience pleasant, convenient, and enjoyable from start to finish.
How are new members guided on getting started?
An individual assessment is complimentary and is the first step towards Club membership. It provides a baseline, identifies safety issues and goals, and allows the Exercise Specialists to tailor exercise plans to your individual needs. You can register for your assessment from the website or by calling or messaging us. At your assessment, you can discuss our group or individual onboarding options to help you decide if one of them is a good entry into Membership for you. New Members also get a welcome manual that explains more about our Club and includes a glossary to help you learn the lingo and exercise abbreviations.
Are there virtual workout options?
We want you to be able to stay on track even if you can't make it to the Club. Some of our programmed exercises require minimum equipment and can be done virtually. Look through the BFA Fitness Club Workouts of the Day which you can find in our Members App, and talk to one of the Exercise Specialists to get more suggestions!
